Let’s Go Fishing
Not this weekend – since heavy snow is expected.
I need to get out – it’s been too long and I have a bad case of cabin fever.
I plan to fish Utah Lake, Bird Island area, for walleye and channel catfish on Saturday, March 5 (if the weather is decent).
I’ll launch at the Lincoln Beach ramp and slowly troll a crawler-rig behind a bottom-waling sinker. If that doesn’t work I’ll try crankbaits and jigs.
Right now I have room in the boat. Let me know if you would like to come along. (I don’t guide, and I don’t guarantee results. I just enjoy getting out and sharing adventures.)

Fishing Overview
Weather this weekend will be cold and snowy, creating difficult fishing conditions. Nicer weather is expected next week and the warming temperatures will melt any ice remaining on Willard Bay and Utah Lake. Boat ramps on both waters will become usable next week.
Walleye are scattered as the ice comes off, but persistent anglers will catch a few fish. Walleye action will steadily improve as the water warms.
Meanwhile, ice fishing will continue at higher elevation waters. Last week a big tiger musky was caught through the ice at Pineview. (Details and photo.) Bear Lake produced a nice lake trout. (Details and photo.)
Strawberry remains good but spotty. Many times the best action is early in the morning, and fishing starts to slow about the time most anglers arrive.
Lake Powell winter striper fishing continues to be surprisingly good. (Details.)
