At Lake Powell, Roy Kimura caught a 31-pound striper trolling an anchovy near Oak Canyon in June. Click here to see a large version of the impressive photo.

Fishing Overview

This is a short Fishbytes report this week - sorry.

It was an intense week and for me and I need a couple days to recover. Should start getting strength back next week and then I'll implement changes to improve this report.

On Tuesday I was donor for a kidney transplant. Just been lying around since then. The surgery went well and the pain has not been as bad as I was led to expect. Still, I'm uncomfortable, groggy and only partially functional, so don't judge too harshly.

It is freakin amazing that they can take an organ from my body, put it into someone else, connect the power cord and plumbing and have it work. Hopefully, this one will kick in and work soon.

Lake Powell striper boils are providing good fishing mid-lake and on the San Juan Arm, but the Hite area has slowed. Plenty of fish are being caught but the hot spots may move from day to day. Watch Wayne Gustaveson's report and forums for the latest.

High Uintas will get wild weather this weekend. Fishing will be great but be prepared for anything if you go up there.
