Kanab/East Zion Area
This area has impressed me as I've searched for recreational property for my family. I have not yet found my dream cabin, but this area is my favorite so far. It still offers unspoiled spots, not overdeveloped. Prices are high, but they will certainly go higher - much higher - during the coming years. If you want an investment certain to appreciate, consider this area.
Key attractions include easy access to Zion, Bryce and Grand Canyon national parks, just a short drive from Lake Powell, several small streams and lakes that offer good trout fishing and mountains with lush forests that are snow-covered during winter. There is plenty of snow here for snowmobiling, yet winters aren't overly long or harsh.
