We fished Haws Point from shore and action was a slower than expected. We caught six nice cutts and two smaller rainbows. Usually at this time of year we do great casting or trolling lures. People around us fishing Powerbait caught a fish now and then, but nobody found the action we expected.

That said, Strawberry is amazing. On any river, even the Provo or Green, or any lake, catching six hefty trout running 18-20 inches would be considered a great day. At Strawberry, we considered it slow.

It was a beautiful day with conditions like early fall. The air temp was a bit chilly early in the morning but we soon shed jackets as the sun came out. There were still golden aspen leaves clinging to trees on the hillside.

All of that will change over the next several days. A storm will bring a chance of showers tomorrow and then hit hard Thu and Fri. The mountains may get snow.

Typically, fishing at Strawberry gets better and better as fall progresses. The fish become aggressive and hit pretty much everything fishermen offer. The action stays good until the boat ramps get icy and cold storms keep people away.
