Fishing Overview
Fishing conditions will improve on our trout streams during the next few weeks, as flows come down and insects become more active. It is very difficult to predict specific conditions on any given water. Talk to the guys in the fly shops; they are on the water every day and will give you the latest information.

Provo River flows are down to a more reasonable level and success is up. Steve Schmidt says nymphs will still produce the most consistent fishing but you can also expect to find some Drakes, Sow Bugs, Stoneflies and PMDs mixed with the still emerging Blue Wing Olives. Read his complete report.

Weber River has good fishing between Rockport and Echo reservoirs. Steve says they are seeing good hatches of Mothers Day Caddis.

Green River flows are very high but stable and the river is fishing well. There are some cicada out, and they should start to be a factor, but at this writing other patterns are more effective.

At Lake Powell, the primitive ramp at Hite is now usable, thanks to the rapidly rising lake level. Runoff has made the upper lake muddy and cold and fishing there will be poor until the runoff ends. Still, Hite is a great place to launch if you want to get to the good bass fishing around Good Hope Bay.

At Powell, walleye fishing is at its peak right now. Wayne Gustaveston suggests fishing from them in the murky water along the edge of the main channel. Powell's stripers are easy to find and catch. Smallmouth and largemouth have been displaced by the rising water and so you've got to search to find them; When you find them you can catch a bunch. Ready Wayne's weekly report for details.

Northern Utah waters with bass will start to be more productive now. Fish for them at Deer Creek, Jordanelle, Pineview, Starvation, Flaming Gorge and many other reservoirs.

Strawberry, Scofield, Electric Lake, Otter Creek and many other trout reservoirs are fishing well.
