Fishing Overview
Stream fishing is now good statewide. Middle and Lower Provo are fishing well. Steve Schmidt predicts: "Green Drakes should be popping by weeks end on the Middle Provo River; so should the stoneflies." The Weber is also shaping up and Steve says there will be good numbers of stoneflies out. (See his complete report.)

Green River flows are down and the water has warmed a bit, so fishing is starting to take off. Action should be very good during the next few weeks.

Small streams are also fishing well. Here's an interesting exchange about southern Utah trout streams.

Strawberry gillnet samples show more rainbows, fewer cutthroat, and chub numbers are in check. Overall, the fishery is in good shape. Details.

Strawberry, Scofield and other reservoirs now provide fair to good fishing, and action will continue to improve during the next couple weeks.

Lake Powell fishing has improved dramatically with stripers boiling on the surface. Striper fishing is good now and will get even better during the few weeks, with the peak action coming from mid-July through August. Striper boils bring some of the most exciting fishing of the year. This article has good info about fishing for boils. Read Wayne Gustaveson's weekly Lake Powell report for current information.
