July 3, 2008 Fishing Overview
I'm out playing and don't have Internet access so I can't do my full report. Below are a few tidbits. It's hot. It's even hot in the Uintas. But not as hot up there as it is in the valleys. The Uintas area a great bet for good fishing this holiday weekend. Here are some great lakes you can drive to: - Moon Lake - Spirit Lake - Whitney Reservoir - Mirror Lake Even better yet, hike away from the easy access point. Most trails are now open but there will still be snow at very high elevations. At Strawberry and other reservoir the best action is early in the morning or late in the evening. At other times of the day you need to fish deep to get to the fish. Fire danger is high and getting higher. A few fires are burning in the state, and there will probably be more before this weekend is through. Right now they aren't threatening major recreation areas. Monitor this website for info on Utah wildfires. Campfire and fireworks restrictions have been imposed in Washington County (St George/Zion Park area), and in the Vernal area. See this site for info on fire restrictions.
