More Early Ice Fishing

As expected, Scofield has safe ice near the dam and fishing has been good. The rest of the lake may also have safe ice, but we have not yet been able to confirm it. Bait has worked well for nice rainbows and also planter-size rainbows. The bite is light so pay attention to your rod and respond to the slightest twitch.

We have also received reports of safe ice at Woodruff, Birch Creek, Mill Meadow and Forsyth reservoirs.

Other similar small waters may also be frozen. Larger, deeper waters are slower to freeze.

Otter Creek should have safe ice any day now, and will offer good fishing.

Strawberry has started to develop ice in bays and may offer some ice fishing in select spots this weekend. There will still be considerable open water on most of the reservoir so be really careful.

Fish Lake, Flaming Gorge and Bear Lake will not have safe ice for some weeks.
